Strange Aeons Timeline

Back to Strange Aeons index

Note that the campaign starts on 19th Arodus (8th month) in the year 4716. The full timeline leading up to the start of the campaign is given here (my additions highlighted).

Age of Serpents: Flying polyps travel to Golarion and build Star Stelae on two sites. One of those sites is Avalon Bay in Lake Encarthan, near the mouth of the Danvers River. Serpentfolk drive off the polyps.

"Ages ago": Sarkonian druids trap a bhole in temporal stasis under Briarstone Isle, a small speck of land in Avalon Bay located near the Star Stelae.

c1290     The Chain of Nights is written by the Keleshite doctor and seer Valhadis.

4024       Kellid/Sarkonian wanderers settle amidst the Star Stelae, mistaking them for Sarkonian godstones. The settlers revere Pharasma, and three of her psycopomp servants: Dammar the Denied, Shadix Who Dreams, and Vonymos the Mourning Storm. They name their new community Thrushmoor.

"Early 4000s": Ariadnah, a follower of the Elder Mythos and Shub-Niggurath in particular, comes to Briarstone Isle, seeking the trapped bhole. She builds three Sarkonian godstones on the island, dedicating one to a servant of Hastur known as the Tatterman. The Tatterman is summoned and recruited by the witch. She then presents herself to the people of Thrushmoor and demonstrates her power to them. The town gradually abandons its previous worship in favour of the depravities of the Elder Mythos. Ariadnah becomes known as the Briarstone Witch.

4050       Report of a Pharasmin inquisitor accused the people of Thrushmoor of engaging in “perverted rites in mockery of Pharasma and her servants’ names.”

4051       A group of mercenaries is sent by the church to wipe out the heretics in Thrushmoor. The night before their attack, they see strange lights in the town. When they invade in the morning, they find the town completely devoid of human life. This becomes known as the Thrushmoor Vanishing.

4288       Thrushmoor re-founded.

4315       Briarstone was originally intended to be a fort, positioned to protect Thrushmoor and trade along the Danver River from pirates sailing Lake Encarthan. The fort’s construction began and was plagued by accidents, culminating in the death of its overseer, Captain Anoch Atherton. Construction on the fort was halted and rumours spread that Briarstone Isle was haunted.

c4485     One of the star stelae is covered by a man-made hill.

4487       Iris Hall built by Count Pragmus Lowls I.

4570       The Sincomakti School of Sciences is founded in nearby Rozenport.

4584       Count Haserton Lowls I, the newly lorded count of Ustalav’s Versex County, sought to put an end to such foolishness. In a bid to erase the history of fear and witchcraft plaguing his county, Count Lowls invited the church of Pharasma to perform an elaborate, showy exorcism upon Briarstone Isle—the setting of so many tales of strange disappearances. While the Pharasmins found no evidence of undead or hauntings, Lowls vociferously declared the island cleansed of evil.

4585       With the aid of Rozenport’s Sincomakti School of Sciences, Lowls I funded the construction of Briarstone Asylum on the foundations of an old, half-built fort. With that, Lowls claimed a victory for enlightenment and declared the time of fear and superstition in Thrushmoor was closed for good.

c4660     The old chapel in Thrushmoor becomes cursed due to the actions of the mad priest Causton Creed.

4670s     Aggra “Bag Lady” Loomis active in Rozenport.

c4682     Dr. Henri Meritmane of the Sincomakti School leads an expedition to Qadira. One of his students, Ulver Zandalus, is kidnapped and traumatized by cultists of Hastur.

4685       Count Haserton Lowls IV is born.
Zandalus committed to Briarstone.

4687       A resident doctor, Eliege Losandro, began treating a former Sincomakti School student, Ulver Zandalus. Losandro starts encouraging Zandalus to use art as therapy.

4693       Zephira Lowls is born.

4696       Death of Count Haserton Lowls III, Nemira Lowls (officially) and Clymes Prett.

4702       Losandro notices Zandalus is drawing the Star Stelae.

4704       Pyes’n and Galdros attacked by gnolls.

4706       Geoffrey is kidnapped. Months later, William discovers him (and his fellow prisoners) and mercifully dispatches them. Arthur Bennett now is stuck as undead, moving from rotting corpse to rotting corpse.

4713       Count Lowls attempts to contact Yog-Sothoth. It goes wrong and Zephira falls pregnant and dies in childbirth three weeks later.

4715       03 (Pharast): Lowls interested in Zandalus.
05 (Desnus): A tall hedge appears around Iris Hill Manor overnight.
11 (Neth): Count Lowls meets Melisenn at the Sincomakti School of Sciences while doing some research.

4716       05 (Desnus): Count Lowls gets some alchemical reagents from his friend Miacknian Munn and a letter about the Necronomicon.
06 (Sarenith): Lowls fires his staff and nominates Melisenn as his replacement once he is gone. A few days later, the first batch of cultists arrive in town.
07 (Erastus): For the first time in years, the Thrushmoor Ghost (Nemira) is seen in the streets. Magistrate Tillus Padgett becomes very suspicious of Count Lowls and sends a letter to Caliphas, asking for an investigation.
08 (Arodus):

·      03: Winter is ordered to go with Accuser Omari to investigate strange things in Thrushmoor.

·      06: Count Lowls tells administrator Losandro that he has a cure for Zandalus.

·      07: Thrushmoor’s citizens began reporting their fellow townsfolk going missing. Melisenn and her cult were snatching a dozen citizens off the street to be sacrificed to Hastur and power the Star Stelae.

·      08: Count Lowls shows administrator Losandro the Chain of Nights.
He also made contact with the Mad Poet, who promised to show him the way to the lost city in exchange for the “sacrifice”.

·      09: The Count makes his sacrifice to the Mad Poet.

·      10: Lowls delivered the PCs to Briarstone Asylum before leaving on a ship headed to Cassomir, all before dawn broke.

·      16: Royal Accuser Omari arrived in town with a small group of investigators—including the Pharasmin cleric Winter Klaczka.

·      17: Winter arrives at the Asylum and waits for a longer meeting with the administrator. Dr. Losandro performs the ritual which frees Zandalus. The results were almost immediate: Zandalus spoke to Losandro for the first time in their long doctor-patient relationship. Then, all hell breaks loose.

·      19: ADVENTURE STARTS. When a delegation of concerned citizens went to Iris Hill to seek support from the count, they found he was gone. Melisenn Kororo, now in charge of the estate, refused to help, advising the citizens to wait for her master’s return. Instead, the townsfolk went to Fort Hailcourse to see if the magistrate could help protect the town. The townspeople were sent away.
Deprived of their traditional leadership, the population begged the Sleepless Agency to take charge of policing the town. Leader of the agency Cesadia Wrentz took careful notice of the events, and suspected that something big was afoot, but she didn’t have enough agents to take on the challenge.
Warned by Cesadia Wrentz about the shady reputation of Lowls’s minions and the danger that invading Iris Hill might pose, Omari decided to go first to Fort Hailcourse in order to force an inspection and enlist the support of the stubborn Constable Cesyll. When Omari went to the fort, however, her group was ambushed and overwhelmed.

·      20: Thrushmoor’s priestess of Pharasma (Trilliss Mavaine) disappears.
