Strange Aeons Module 6

A2: Cassilda does not mention Thrushmoor, only the linkage to Golarion. She tells them that they must Untether the three Nexuses to save their world.

Part II

In this area, Geoffrey’s ghost companions become visible and can be interacted with. There are twelve children aged between 8 and 14, 8 boys and four girls. They can interact with the other inhabitants of the region, eat, and essentially pretend that they are alive. They may even be reluctant to leave.

Part II also involves a Death Coach. I found this encounter unsatisfying, as a player can die almost instantly. I ran this as the coach automatically drags one soul from a player (worst WILL save) and races off to the Manor. The player’s body is still alive, but must be reunited with their soul soon or their life-force will dwindle and die without a soul.

This allows one player to arrive, incorporeally, at the Manor alone and unequipped (though clothed). It also provides a sense of urgency to the other players.

B4: One of the cursed vampires is Urdrena Splinterbone from Module 3.

There is no guarantee that that players will rescue Erich Zann. They may grab Delmaria and flee Alvaric Manor. The GM must be prepared for Part IV happening without Zann.

Part III

There is no guarantee that the players will not try to face the shoggoth, nor will they flee to the archive. Furthermore, there is no path for them to exit the archive and get to the lab without being pursued (and eaten) by the shoggoth.

The archive is surrounded by a Wall of Force.

There are multiple shoggoths, who converge on the players. These can merge, creating larger and larger shoggoths (or split). This creates an overwhelming threat. The Elder Things are not in hibernation, but awake. They open a gap in the Wall of Force and also the front doors, just long enough to allow the players entry. The super-shoggoth slithers over the structure, almost engulfing it.

The Elder Things can stun the shoggoth for a couple of rounds, allowing the players to get a head start. They can also provide a couple of Haste potions and a device for creating a temporary hole in the lab’s Wall of Force (1 round only, 1 use only). This allows for a chase sequence to the lab.

Part V

Cassilda confused why untethering the three Star Stelae does not work. Then she has an idea; “Unless it has happened before…?” It is up to the players to recall the Thrushmoor Vanishing, which is when a previous, less successful feasting of Carcosa on Golarion happened. This connection still exists, which is why the three untethered Stelae are insufficient. This leads the players to the Carcosa copy of Thurshmoor and the finale.

The section also has a Chronological Corrector. This combat detracts from the narrative in my opinion, so I simply removed it.

M4: Add Arthur Bennett (use same stats as Hilda for ease). He will try to body swap with William. Arthur will be attacked by dozens of ghost children (from Geoffrey), destroying him in revenge.
